Hoerner College held its 53rd Annual Function on 17th February 2023 with grand aplomb exhibiting a phenomenal showcase of multifarious talents. It was witnessed with the gracious presence of Honorable Aparna Yadavji, Senior BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh, as the Chief Guest for the Day. She was warmly welcomed with due enthusiasm. A Teeka ceremony welcoming her was most appreciated by her. The other dignitaries included the Guest of Honour, Ms Manjit Batra, Vice President Hoerner College Society & Senior Principal City Montessori School along with Mrs Vera Hajela, Mrs Aditi Sharma, Mrs Shivani Singh and Mrs Sangita Bannerjee- all Principals of various branches of City Montessori Schools. Also present were Mrs Kalpana Singh, Principal Gurukul Academy, Mrs Amita Singh, Principal, St Joseph College, Mrs Najma, retired Teacher City Montessori School, Mrs Madhumita Bose, Attorney at law, Mrs Vanita Yadav, Social Activist, Mr Munish Mishra CEO Children’s Academy, Ms Shifalika Misra, Principal, Children’s Academy and members of the Fourth Estate representing electronic and print media. The programme commenced with a welcome song and lighting of the lamp by the the Honourable Chief Guest and Guest of Honour with other dignitaries. The Principal presented her Annual Report showcasing the vital curriculum changes and inclusion of the National Education Policy. This was followed by an All-Religion Prayer to uphold the secular structure of the nation. After that, the Chief Guest was ceremoniously introduced. The attendees were absolutely captivated by the range of presentations. The program moved forward with an English skit on “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” which left the audience with an enlightening message. Undoubtedly, it was an amazing rendition to the eternal fairytale accompanied by the presentation of the dance called Space Mania. The event then marched on with a speech from Aparna Yadavji who gave an incredibly didactic address to the audience where she spoke of the Guru being the most respected person of civilised society and how we as a nation must take forward that thought. Being a trained classical singer she chanted a few lines glorifying the Guru. It was a beautiful speech and she was most endearing and down to earth as a Chief Guest. This was followed by an energetic Yoga performance by Pre primary and Primary students. Thereafter, an exhilarating speech was delivered by Manjit Batra, Guest of honour for the day, who applauded the efforts of the students and mentioned in her speech that the programmes, together, brought forth a spectacular show of amalgamation of local identities with global identities. In addition to this, an impressive Presentation on SDG based Activities done by the children of Primary and Pre Primary section was presented. The melodious performances by the Choir Divinity from time to time added to the charm. They sung the iconic Abba Song I have a dream to perfection in candlelight and the delightful rendition of the famous ‘ in a shoemakers shop’ was delightful as it was staged with the choir singing and simultaneous enactment of the shoemaker! The life cycle of a butterfly was an innovative dance act with beautiful props and rendition done by the students of the Primary Section. The mothers pitched in doing an extended rendition of the Rhyme Ba Ba Black sheep with the children of Pre Primary which was a big hit. The power-packed presentation of self-defence techniques was also captivating as the students of both Pre Primary and Primary Sections showcased their Taekwondo skills, breaking boards et al. The little ones of Pre Primary were endearing in their Unicorn dance whereas the kids of Primary Section showed a spunky dance performance on the popular song Believers! The Grand Finale marked the pride India upholds in its unity in diversity. The Principal of the College, Dr. Mala Mehra, a visionary figure, delivered an insightful and stimulating speech to the students and also proposed a vote of thanks for the Chief Guest, teachers and students for their contributions to the program. The Function culminated with the singing of the National Anthem. The evening was thus the efforts of an enthused lot of students and Teachers which delighted the parents no end and the guests were appreciative of this function brought to fruition in just 13 working days! Kudos to Team Pre Primary and Primary Sections for this spectacular show. Congratulations to the Team. Well done indeed!
